Zman owner has graciously allowed me to use his Blog to put forth my thoughts on the events of this past week. Thus I will begin by extending my warmest congratulations to President elect Barack Obama on a stunning victory. At the outset of 2008 how many even imagined they would see a Black American elected President of the United States in their life time;Certainly not I. As a matter of fact we saw both a man of color and a woman vie for the Democratic Nomination. Now after eight long years of unresponsive government, and abysmal leadership this country cried out for change and a better life.A charasmatic young Senator from Illinois stepped up and said “Yes I will deliver that change”.Only one man truly understands the meaning of this change however,That man is the late Doctor Martin Luther King.It was he who carried the banner of equality in the 60s.It was he who dared to do more than just dream of a better day,and it is he who must be declared the Architect of the victory of President Barack Obama. As I sat watching the these historic events unfold on channel 2 I observed the Reverend Jesse Jackson standing in the crowd weeping. My first impulse was to throw something at the television, but the damn television cost too much. Then I decided to simply go to the kitchen and make a cup of coffee.I think back to the great men and women besides Dr.King who can share in the victory on 2008,folks like Rosa Parks(the Mother of the civil rights movement)Mervyn Johns who started the Bus boycott, and let us not forget Medger Evars another brave man who gave his life for the cause. But the likes of Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton who preached more hatred must not be allowed to share in the realizaton of Dr.Kings dream.
I have noted that since President Obamas first press conference that a number of nations have expressed their desire to open a dialogue with our country after he officially takes office.I also observe that President Obama is apparantly not impressed with some of these overtures.I would tell him that opening any sort of talks with the (old Soviet Union)the russians is probably a exercise in futility. The late President Reagan tagged them correctly when he called them the Evil Empire.Mr.President I urge you not to talk to Iran.Remenber your Chief of Staff is Also Isreali and Iran called them a “Stinking corpse “Further I feel that opening any sort of dialogue with the terrorist nations is also counter productive,as well as being a slap in the face to our Military presently fighting in Iraq, and Afganistan. As to our regular allies; They have been there in the past and will continue to be there for us,but there is a very definite need to establish comon goals and parameters..Now as to the UN;Mr.President I believe and believe firmly that the UN needs to be relocated to another nation that espouses true neutrality.Perhaps The Hague in the Netherlands or even better Switzerland. We as a people must ask them to leave our shores. They have been nothing but a thorn in our side and a albtross around our necks. They are decidedly anti American,so lets evict them.Give them sufficient time to make other international arrangements, but go they must..I hold great hopes that President Barack Obama will bring about the change and new direction this nation asks him for,and return us to our rightful position in the world community.
